“Icarus” is inspired by Breugel’s painting “Landscape With The Fall of Icarus”. Icarus was given wings by his father then attempted to fly to the sun and his fall is barely noticeable in this dazzling landscape on a Spring day. William Carlos Williams tells us “ According to Brueghel, when Icarus fell, it was spring. A farmer was ploughing his field, the whole pageantry of the year was awake tingling near”.
